Baba Yaga
Baba Yaga is the somewhat terrifying witch of Slavic folklore - mostly depicted as a malign figure with a penchant for cannibalism, but sometimes as a more benign, magical being. In all accounts, she lives deep in the forest in a house on chicken legs - handy for a quick getaway and when travelling around, her preferred mode of transport is a large pestle and mortar. Baba Yaga sits in the mortar and steers with the pestle, using a broom to sweep away her tracks.
